Gear up for a leisurely stroll that will lead you straight to an absolutely breathtaking swimming hole in Missouri. When you’re yearning for an old-fashioned summer day, away from the crowds at the waterpark, you likely won’t find a more unique swimming spot in all of Missouri. If you’ve not updated your summer bucket list in a while, you might want to pull it out and add this summer destination right at the top.
Tucked in Amidon Memorial Conservation Area in Frederickton, Castor River Shut-Ins promise a one-of-a-kind summer adventure.
However, to reach this unique swimming hole, you must first follow the one-mile Cedar Glade Trail. It's considered easy, so even the kiddos should have no trouble on the trail.
Don't forget to bring along all of your beach gear, including sunscreen and water shoes. Water shoes will make it easier if you decide to explore the rocks of the shut-ins.
The only pink granite shut-ins in Missouri, Castor River Shut-Ins can get really crowded, especially on a hot summer day. Still, you should be able to find a quiet spot to cool off.
Take precautions when you're in the water as there are obviously no lifeguards. After the rain, the current can also be particularly strong, so keep that in mind, too.
